Phil Lear and I recently attended the P3 Hub Americas conference, held at the historic Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC. Now in its fourth year, the event provided an excellent opportunity for us to meet leading figures in the P3 marketplace from Canada, America and Latin America and to hear first hand about developments over the last year as well as where the market is heading in 2018.
With its annual awards event, the conference also plays a valuable role in recognizing and rewarding outstanding achievements in P3s across the Americas. I was particularly proud of the fact that in its role as official Technology Sponsor, the Commerce Decisions AWARD® procurement evaluation solution was used to support the awards judging process - ensuring an efficient, structured, robust and transparent approach.
The line up of shortlisted organizations and programmes was impressive, and I was delighted to be asked to present the Best Transportation Project award to Cintra's Transform 66 P3 Project in Northern Virginia, designed to bring congestion relief to the northern Virginia region in the US.
As a Canadian, I was also very pleased to see that Canadian organizations featured heavily as finalists and winners at the Awards ceremony. Winning a silver award for Best Transportation Project was the Highway 427 Expansion Project in Toronto. Winning a gold award, the second time in a row, for Best Government Agency was Infrastructure Ontario, a Commerce Decisions’ AWARD® customer.
Congratulations to my fellow Canadians on a job well done and for being such leaders in the P3 market!
Commerce Decisions has supported the delivery of over 75 P3 programmes internationally, and is delighted to support P3 Bulletin’s celebration of P3 successes and achievements globally. We look forward to next year’s Conference and Awards, which will once again bring together all the leading figures from the three regions to chart what lays ahead for the P3 sector in 2018 and beyond.
